Hibiscus Iced Tea

Arabian Beverage

Hibiscus is very popular drink in the Arab world. It has a cranberry-like flavor that’s a zesty beverage perfect for cooling off on a hot day. Hibiscus is made from coppery-red dried hibiscus calyces, high in vitamin C, and is naturally caffeine free.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons hibiscus loose tea
  • 1/2 cup sugar (optional)

PREPARATION

  1. Put water and sugar in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Remove from heat and add hibiscus loose tea.
  3. Cover, and let steep for 15 minuets until beverage is dark red.
  4. Let beverage cool down before placing in the refrigerator, serve cold over crushed ice.
